Ingredients
- 1 (12-count) package of Hawaiian rolls
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- ⅓ cup Clebby’s Avocado Oil (reserving one tablespoon)
- 1 yellow onion, finely diced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire
- 12 slices of American cheese
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Directions
- Heat a large sauté pan over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of neutral oil. Once it begins to smoke, add the lean ground beef. Season with salt, freshly cracked black pepper, and garlic powder, and spread into a thin layer to sear. Once deeply golden, use a spatula to break the meat into small pieces and continue cooking until no pink remains, then stir in yellow mustard and ketchup.
- Remove the cooked meat to a bowl and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Add Clebby’s Avocado Oil (reserve one tablespoon for brushing buns) with diced onion and Worcestershire sauce. Sauté until the onions are caramelized, stirring occasionally.
- Add the ground meat back in and toss in the onions.
- Slice the whole loaf of Hawaiian rolls in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet. Layer six slices of American cheese across the buns. Top with the ground meat mixture, then layer the remaining six slices of American cheese on top.
- Add the top half of the Hawaiian rolls and use a pastry brush to brush the reserved tablespoon of Clebby’s Avocado Oil. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
- Cover the rolls with foil and bake for 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes, until the buns are toasted.
- Slice and serve immediately alongside your favorite burger sauce.
